Day 25: August 26, 2015: Reasons NOT to Vote CON #'s 601 to 625

601. Harper hates Mrs. Rose Fairchild, (Please ask Andrew Coyne why. It is a long story.)

603. "For 10 years we've had a lone-wolf prime minister. Stephen Harper's economic team can fit in a very small room. All he needs is one chair and a mirror." - Liberal Leader Justin Trudeau, August, 2015.

Day 24: August 25, 2015: Reasons NOT to Vote CON #'s 576 to 600

582. Harper's latest "same old, same old" election lie is his Election 2015 election promise to strengthen the Canadian Armed Forces reserve program. At what point in life will Harper learn to scan his Promise File of all his old broken promises before promising the same old, same old promises AGAIN! On Monday, August 17, 2015, after years and years of budget cuts and neglect, Harper pledged to bolster the ranks of the country’s citizen soldiers. AGAIN! Harper PROMISED in 2008 that if Canadians re-elected him he would add 6,000 reservists to the military, bringing the total number of part-time soldiers to 30,000. General Andrew Leslie, retired, stated: "Harper's announcement of 30,000 reserves was originally promised in 2008. He did not deliver. Fact: The average daily reserve size in 2014 was 22,100. Conclusion: Mr. Harper is deceiving Canadians yet again." It seems like Harper should have listened to the advice of his old war buddy George W. Bush, who was an expert on fooling voters, “There's an old saying in Tennessee — I know it's in Texas, probably in Tennessee — that says, fool me once, shame on — shame on you. Fool me — you can't get fooled again.”

592. Harper EGO and ENTITLEMENT in a nutshell: he is taking hard-working Canadian Taxpayers' money to run a web site about HIMSELF and still FORCES Canadian Taxpayers to register to see it!

599. Harper sent out an E-mail to Canadians demanding a donation of $25 because the Press was attacking him. In truth at the time, it was Justin Trudeau coming under FULL ATTACK by the Press!

Day 23: August 24, 2015: Reasons NOT to Vote CON #'s 551 to 575

551. Harper told Canadians that if someone, like himself, had any honour he would admit to his crimes; resigning immediately. Why does Harper still have the key to 24 Sussex? Why is Harper such a liar and hypocrite, ignoring HIS OWN ADVICE?

555.  Harper has announced he is handing out MORE to the rich! Ottawa Citizen headline, August 23, 2015: "Harper announces tax relief for service club members, deflects Duffy questions." The Citizen said, "Service club members identify needs in their communities, and then, instead of waiting for government, they take action to meet those needs,” said Harper. “They launch programs that support our children. I myself was a member of the Leaside Lions Hockey team. They care for the homeless and less fortunate.”The new measure, which would have a 15 to 29 per cent value depending on the individuals’ overall donation, would fall under the annual Charitable Donations Tax Credit, and apply to groups such as the Royal Canadian Legion, Knights of Columbus, Rotary clubs, Kiwanis and Optimists." Service club members are generally those with the deepest pockets in every community. Why is Harper going to give them TAX BREAKS on their service donations! Moreover, this shows he is clueless about people who have hearts and give from their hearts. They do this service and expect nothing back! As a former Rotarian, this offer from Harper is very offensive. That was the very essence of Rotary: giving because you could, expecting nothing in return. In fact, the return is something that happens inside of you BECAUSE YOU GAVE. This proves that the cold-hearted Harper has zero clue why people work in service. Obviously, Harper feels that if one gives, one should get back in return. It is very hard to believe Harper is a Christian. He does not understand why people give. Harper has been a bad politician. A good politician is a giver.

558. Harper committed a knowledge massacre. The massacre was done quickly, with no record keeping and no attempt to preserve the material in universities. Scientists said precious collections were consigned to dumpsters, were burned or went to landfills. Hundreds of years of carefully compiled research into aquatic systems, fish stocks and fisheries from the 1800s and early 1900s went into the bin or up in smoke. Irreplaceable documents like the 50 volumes produced by the H.M.S. Challenger expedition of the late 1800s that discovered thousands of new sea creatures, are now moldering in landfills. Many scientists have compared the war on environmental science to the rise of fascism in 1930s Europe. Renowned Dalhousie University biologist Jeff Hutchings calls the closures "an assault on civil society." Hutchings muses, "you look at the rise of certain political parties in the 1930s and have to ask how could that happen and how did they adopt such extreme ideologies so quickly, and how could that happen in a democracy today?"

560.  Harper's former Senior PMO Staffer, Chris Woodcock, testified under oath in the Mike Duffy trial on August 24, 2015 that he didn't know Nigel Wright wrote a personal cheque to cover Mike Duffy's expenses until the story went public, even though Wright had sent him an email telling him he had done so. Crown prosecutor Jason Neubauer asked Woodcock when he learned that Wright had repaid Duffy's questionable expenses. Woodcock said he learned about it on the evening of May 14, 2013, or the morning of May 15 when CTV News broke the story. Neubauer also asked Woodcock about a March 8 email from Wright that included the line: "For you only 'I am personally covering Duffy's $90K.'"Woodcock said at the time that he didn't see that part of the email, and only saw it in late June 2013.  He said he was quite "surprised" when he saw that part of the email. There was giggling in the courtroom when Woodcock made this testimony.

565. Harper's lack of fiscal responsibility, (or is it white collar theft?), is evident in his obvious mishandling of the Canada Pension Plan Investment Board, where management salaries have literally skyrocketed completely out of hand. What is Harper's JUSTIFICATION for its Senior Managers salaries jumping from an average of $220,000 each under the Liberal's oversight, to $3,300,000 each per year, during Harper's tenure? The Canada Pension Plan Investment Board's total staff under the Liberal Government was 164 in 2006. Today it has more than 1,000! The growth in compensation for senior managers has been exponential under Harper: from $220,000, on average, in 2000 to $3,300,000 in 2014! They are making FIFTEEN TIMES their Liberal salaries under Harper! There should be a Commission called on this apparent white collar theft immediately after Harper is removed from office. This has been money literally taken out of the pockets of Canada's Senior Citizens!

567. One of Harper's fun, NON-POLITICAL trips, (this one to Manhattan, which included coveted tickets to a New York Yankees game plus a Broadway show), cost Canadian taxpayers at least $45,000. Harper government officials REFUSED to provide additional costs linked to the trip, such as expenses incurred by Harper, two more of his aides, and a defense attaché who took part in the 3-day excursion. Flight manifests show there were 9 passengers on Harper's private jet. Estimates for the flying costs of the Challenger, taken by Harper and his entourage, were $10,495 per hour! Harper's staff stayed at the luxurious New York Intercontinental Hotel in Times Square; the price per person, including taxes, was about US$400 per night. Their total expense filings, not counting flights, averaged about $2,100 EACH! Why should these pleasure trips cost taxpayers even ONE CENT!! Who does Harper think the Treasury belongs to? Obviously he thinks it is his private little piggy bank into which he can dip on his whim and private pleasure!

568. Harper blocked Veterans from attending his Election 2015 rally in Fredericton, New Brunswick held ... AT THEIR LEGION HALL! Harper is SHAMELESS!

Day 22: August 23, 2015: Reasons NOT to Vote CON #'s 526 to 550

527. Harper's JEWISH PROFILING offends voter in Montreal! Campaigning just doesn't get much more classless and ignorant than this CON hustings tactic! CON campaign workers in Montreal are telling Jewish voters at their doors to remember WHAT THEY ARE! During the 2015 Election electioneering by the CONs, campaign workers for Robert Libman, the CON candidate running in the riding of Montreal's Mount Royal, knocked on Michael Hollander's door in order to ask whether Libman and Harper could count on his support. When Hollander told them that he wasn’t interested, one of the campaign workers proceeded to tap on the mezuzah* affixed to Hollander's doorpost and said “Okay, but remember what you are.”Hollander said that he was so appalled he told the campaign worker that statements like that were precisely the reason he would not be voting for the CONs.
* A mezuzah is a piece of parchment, (often contained in a decorative case). inscribed with specified Hebrew verses from the Torah. A mezuzah is affixed to the door-frame in Jewish homes to fulfill the mitzvah (Biblical commandment) to inscribe the words of the Shema "on the doorposts of your house."

528. Harper's unethical, fascist-styled, classless spying culture was perfectly demonstrated when his Health Minister CON MP Rona Ambrose's ministerial intern Robert Stack went underground with a secret recording device. Robert Stack zeroed in on Liberal MP John McKay. Stack covertly asked McKay questions about Liberal Leader Justin Trudeau, hoping to find dirt the CONs could use politically: without asking John MacKay his PERMISSION to be recorded. All Stack got was that MacKay and Trudeau had opposing views on abortion. MP McKay had no clue Stack was secretly taping him and was planning to use his conversation against him. Stack then gave his recording to the CON-scum SUN, which rag published in an effort to make political hay. The SUN failed miserably. McKay apologized to Trudeau. Justin accepted the apology. The Liberals went on with business as usual and turned the page. Left over was a public viewing into Harper's own-grown, filthy, lying and morally corrupt culture. It was out there on full display; a deprived, hateful man with an equally corrupt, deceiving and lying team, running a once-proud country into the ground; morally, economically, ecologically, financially and an embarrassment on the World Stage. And Stack? He became another nobody used CON stooge: abused, spit out and thrown under Harper's bus, among a fast-growing crowd of pathetic, used-up CONmen, liars, and cheats.

Day 21: August 22, 2015: Reasons NOT to Vote CON #'s 501 to 525

501. Harper HYPOCRISY: when appointing Mike Duffy to the Senate, Harper refused to accept the definition of residency requirements from his PMO legal counsel, Benjamin Perrin, because that law was over a century old. Harper forced Mike Duffy, under the latter's protest, to register his principal residence in PEI and not in Kanata, Ontario where Duffy had lived for decades as a reporter. BUT, now that the proverbial waste matter has hit the fan because of Harper's residency insistence, GET THIS! Harper has refused to testify at the Mike Duffy trial on Duffy's Senate residency fraud using Parliamentary Privilege, (immunity from the law): which definition is CENTURIES OLD! Additionally, Harper had already claimed Parliamentary Privilege in the past: in 2007 to avoid a giving a deposition in a defamation lawsuit. So Harper evidently deems Canada has TWO SETS of laws, one where he can personally interpret the law to his own personal advantage; the other set of laws for the rest of Canadians. In other words, Harper apparently considers himself above the law.

507. Harper says his Chief Of Staff Ray Novak has his confidence, despite court testimony alleging Novak is guilty of the PMO conspiracy to deceive the Canadian public. Donald Bayne, Duffy's counsel, revealed this week that Benjamin Perrin, Harper's former legal counsel, told police that Novak was aware Wright was going to cut Duffy a cheque to repay his expenses. On Thursday, Perrin described in court how a conference call was arranged with Duffy's then-lawyer that included him, Wright, and Novak.Perrin said that before the call, there was a short meeting in Wright's office in which the former chief of staff told him and Novak that he would cover Duffy's expenses. Perrin testified that he looked over to Novak for his reaction but saw none. Perrin also testified that Novak was present throughout the conference call in which the details of the Duffy plan were discussed, but did not speak. The Conservatives have maintained Novak didn't know about the plan and did not read an email from Wright mentioning the cheque. Tory spokesperson Kory Teneycke told reporters last week it would be "unfathomable" that Novak would have known about a payment from Wright to Duffy and withheld that information from Harper. The PLOT THICKENS!

512. Harper's, (who has been crippling health care Nationwide, but especially in the Maritimes and First Nations communities), CON MP Scott Armstrong outraged the medical community at the Colchester East Hants Health Centre in Truro, Nova Scotia by his classless campaigning, with CON MP Kellie Leitch, INSIDE the hospital! Dr. Nancy McNeil, a radiologist, said, "I would like to know if people believe political campaigning is appropriate in the hospital setting, particularly with patients waiting for imaging in the department at the time." Armstrong's Liberal opponent Bill Casey, a former Conservative who represented the riding for many years,  says he never campaigned in a hospital, and stated, "Those two candidates would have done better to try and get Stephen Harper to sit down with premiers and work out a health accord." Precisely Bill!

514. Harper has quietly SHUT DOWN the Agriculture and Agri-Food Lethbridge Research Centre which was created in 1906 to provide scientific information to scientists with Agriculture Canada, as well as technicians and students.  The Professional Institute of the Public Service of Canada (PIPSC), representing approximately 15,000 federal scientists, says the closure brings the number of federal science libraries lost due to cuts, closures and consolidations to 16 since 2012. PIPSC president Debi Daviau stated, "The Harper government continues to target government science at every turn. It is time Canadians understood the cumulative loss to federal science — and this week to agricultural science, in particular — of a government whose priorities are clearly out of step with both public scientists and the public interest."

Day 20: August 21, 2015: Reasons NOT to Vote CON #'s 476 to 500

477. Harper's CON Candidate in the 2015 Election for Nanaimo-Ladysmith, Mark MacDonald, has refused to enter any local election debates. His response read, "At this time we will decline all invitations of debates, positions and questionnaires during the election campaign. Mark MacDonald, candidate, and the campaign team are focused on the issues of the Campaign, which will be highlighted in our printed materials. When Mark becomes an elected official you are more than welcome to contact his office, to discuss a variety of issues. Please know your issue is not being singled out, rather no response will be given any group, party or individual on any of the issues raised by them."

At the UN, when Harper speaks, no one listens.

491. Harper has killed true democracy in Canada. According to a well-written letter to the Toronto Star, Harper "has embraced an ideology dedicated to a gradual, but carefully managed redefinition of Canada’s democratic values and freedoms. Characterized by a resolute, personal control over messaging, coupled with a singular management of policy and operational decisions, Harper’s autocratic style has over time incorporated a range of positions such as: wilful suppression or “re-interpretation” of information; attacks on the media and a devotion to a culture of fear, intimidation and secrecy; repudiation of common ground participation or reasoned compromise with its opponents; and control, misrepresentation, narrowing and elimination of scientific, social and financial researched facts and statistical data through targeted budgetary cutbacks, access limitations, security-inspired censorship and reductions in regulatory oversight. A disturbing and unsettling habit of the Harper government is one of allowing a broad range of right-leaning ideological positions to triumph over historical evidence, empirical data and common sense in many of its strategic social, political, and economic plans. When ideology is made into an operational weapon, or set into a global context, it begins by exploiting the vulnerabilities of those least likely to be able to defend themselves, in addition to overtly attacking those who oppose its doctrines and philosophies."

495. Harper does NOT take women seriously. Canada ranks an embarrassing 20th amongst 133 countries when it comes to the gender gap, behind countries such as Nicaragua, Latvia, Cuba and Lesotho. Violence annually drives 100,000 women and children from their homes into shelters, costing Canadian society billions of dollars. The Department of Justice estimates that spousal abuse costs $7.4 billion annually. Canadian women, on average, earn 81 cents for every dollar a man earns. Canada is in a shocking 49th place ranking among 133 countries on health and survival. Harper has not addressed the tragic gaps in aboriginal health outcomes, which continue unabated. Canada’s dismal 42nd place ranking in democratic representation, with men outnumbering women in Parliament by a ratio of three to one, is in stark contrast to Rwanda, where women held 45 of the 80 seats in Parliament.
